Personal Bio
Dr. Laura Frey received her Ph.D. from the University of Kansas, and is presently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Special Education at CMU. She has taught courses and supervised interns in characteristics and instructional methods for students identified with cognitive impairment, learning disabilities, and emotional impairment, introduction to special education, special education students in the general setting, and graduate students.

Dr. Frey has experience as a public school teacher, day treatment program coordinator, and director of special education. Her research interests include education equity and advocacy for students with emotional impairment, social emotional learning in education settings, the interaction of cognition and affect, service learning and civic responsibility, emotional and mental health in daily living, and public policy in the context of a democratic society.
